In the span of a few afternoon hours Finmeccanica was also honored to receive Koo Tsai Ki, Minister of State Singapore Delegation, Aurel Cazacu, General Director, Ministry of Economics and Finance (Romania), Jaap De Hoop Scheffer, Secretary General NATO, Mark Green, Head of Joint Combat Aircraft Defence Equipment & Support (UK) and Antonio Armellini, Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the OECD.The Finmeccanica stand, Chalets and Static Area also welcomed Daniel Calleja Crespo, Director for Air Transport, DG Energy and Transport European Commission, Luc Chatel, Secretary of State for Consumer affairs and Industry, Spokesman of the Government, Lt Gen George Trautman, Deputy Commandant for Aviation Us Marine Corps (USA), Anne-Marie Idrac, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade (France) and Petros M. Kareklas, Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Defence (Cyprus) .
The afternoon agenda also included the MBDA Press Conference, held by Antonio Perfetti, MBDA's Executive Group Director, focusing on the company's new products. After the Press Conference, which took place at the MBDA chalet, Finmeccanica top management also welcomed Delegation from Singapore, represented by Tan Peng Yan, Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) in Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA), from Portugal, with the visit of V. Adm. Carlos A. Viegas Filipe, National Armaments Director, and representatives of the European Parliament: Karl Von Wogau, Chairman of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Security and Defence
Finmeccanica Press Conference
The Finmeccanica Press Conference held today in the Stand Auditorium by the President and CEO of Finmeccanica Group, Pier Francesco Guarguaglini, and by the Chief Operating Officer, Giorgio Zappa, focused first of all on the worldwide impact of the economic crisis; however the President highlighted that, despite this crisis, Finmeccanica still obtained positive results, consolidated even more its position in the domestic markets and expanded its worldwide presence with the acquisition of DRS Technologies last October.The President reported the sentence from Janes' magazine that defined Finmeccanica's purchase of DRS Technologies as "the deal of the decade", and reaffirmed the concept of the importance for the Group of the US market; DRS, in fact, will mark the beginning of the next stage of Finmeccanica's growth in the US.
To conclude its speech, Pier Francesco Guarguaglini illustrated the new projects of Finmeccanica to be summarized in four key points: United Arab Emirates (partnership agreement with Mubadala), India (AW119- TATA), Russia (SuperJet 100- Russian Technologies) and Turkey (AW129- Göktürk satellite system).
After the President's statements, Mr. Zappa focused on the commercial presence of Finmeccanica, emphasizing on products, markets and strategies of the consolidated and the new markets.
First Morning at the Le Bourget 2009
The 48th edition of the Paris Air Show - Le Bourget officially began today with a very busy agenda. Italian and International delegations visited Finmeccanica's Chalets, Stand, and Static Area, welcomed by the Group's top management. The day started with ATR Press Conference at ATR chalet, followed by the visits at Finmeccanica stand, chalets and static area of Glenn Torpy, Chief of the Air Staff Ministry Of Defence (UK) , Mr. Bogdan Klich, Minister of National Defence (Poland), Gen. C.A. Carlo Gibellino, Deputy of Chief of Staff of the Italian Army.The morning agenda included also the visits of Hon. Guido Crosetto, Undersecretary of Defence (Italy), Gen. C.A. Aldo Cinelli, Secretary General of Defence and National Armaments Director and M. François Fillon, Prime Minister of France, Air Marshal Kevin Leeson, Chief of Materiel (Air) (DES) Defence Equipment & Support (UK), Aurel Ionel Lascu, State Secretary of and Chief of the Armaments ( Romania ) and Mr. José Manuel Silva Rodriguez, Director General, DG Research European Commission.
