Defence and Security Electronics
In this field, Finmeccanica's range of activities includes the creation of large integrated systems based on complex architectures and network-centric logics. These include avionic and electro-optical equipment and systems, remote-controlled aircraft, radar systems, ground and naval command and control systems, air traffic control systems, integrated communications systems and networks, proven mobile radio communication systems and value added services in the IT and security fields. The acquisition at the end of 2008 of the US company, DRS Technologies, has further strengthened the Group's position.
Having served the defence sector for more than forty years, DRS develops, produces and provides assistance for a vast array of systems designed to meet the needs of critical missions and military support operations as well as systems designed to face security challenges in national territory.

The large exhibition area devoted to electronics for security and defence purposes is carefully laid out. Complementary and integrable technologies respond to a large number of needs in both the military and civilian spheres. They range from avionics and assistance systems to air navigation, new generation electro-optical radar, various types of sensors, multifunctional radio networks, thermal imaging and hyperspectral cameras, as well as support and coordination for civil protection and search-and-rescue activities.
