Finmeccanica has earned a key role in the field of military aeronautics and in recent international civil programmes. Through Alenia Aeronautica, the Group is now on the cutting edge as regards the production of fighter aircraft (Eurofighter Typhoon and F-35), unmanned aircraft for civil and military use (Sky-X demonstrator, UAV-MALE class Sky-Y) as well as the production of aero-structures - a sector in which the company has about forty years experience, representing one of its points of excellence.

Alenia Aeronautica collaborates with the leading manufacturers worldwide, including Bombardier, Dassault, Airbus and Boeing, with whom it is a strategic partner for the design and production of the innovative B-787 Dreamliner. In the tactical transport sector, the company is world leader with the C-27J, the only aircraft in its category able to meet all the needs of tactical air transport, civil protection and assistance, as well as the military and international needs of Armed Forces worldwide. 
 
Alenia Aeronautica has a strategic partnership with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) for the Superjet 100 programme, a family of new generation regional jets with a seating capacity ranging from 75-100. It also holds 50% of a joint venture with ATR, a world leader in the sector of regional turboprop aircraft. With Alenia Aermacchi the Finmeccanica Group is a world leader in the sector of training aircraft and in related ground support services. The top model is the M-346 Master, an advanced trainer recently chosen by the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates.
All of the Group companies' leading models of aircraft and aeronautics programmes will be on display in Paris.

 Boeing 787 Dreamliner
 
Alenia Aeronautica is fully engaged in the new Boeing advanced mid-size twin-jet airliner. Alenia Aeronautica, including Global Aeronautica activities - an equal shares-joint venture with Boeing - works on 26% of the design and manufacture of the revolutionary all-composite airframe. Work is performed both at its Grottaglie plant and through Global Aeronautica in the USA.

C-27J Spartan
 
The C-27J twin turboprop is the only medium tactical airlifter flying today designed to truly military specifications. The C-27J has been already ordered by the Hellenic, Italian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Romanian Air Forces and by U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.

 Eurofighter Typhoon
 
Alenia Aeronautica is co-prime contractor in today's most successful swing-role fighter, ordered by six countries and in service with five. Alenia 19,5% production work share includes left wing, rear fuselage, wing pylons and secondary power generation. Alenia Aeronautica also works on the navigation, defensive system, landing gear, utility control and propulsion systems.

F-35 Lightning II ARCH
 
Alenia Aeronautica participates in the F-35 design and will be a "second source" supplier of the wing box. It is the candidate for the proposed Italian assembly line and integrated logistic support center.

 Sky-Y
 
Conceived as technology demonstrator for a Medium Altitude, Long Endurance (MALE) surveillance UAV.
Its purpose is to develop enabling technologies that increase the aircraft's autonomous flight and data
collection and distribution capabilities. Sky-Y has an all-composite structure, all-electric systems and a
diesel engine of automotive derivation giving it up to 12 hours' endurance.

Neuron
 
Alenia is a tier-1 participant in Neuron, the only active UCAV demonstrator programme in Europe.
As the largest non-French partner, it has responsibilities ranging from aircraft subsystems to some key
innovative stealth and weapon system technologies.

 Airbus A380
 
Alenia Aeronautica is the largest non-Airbus European A380 partner. It joined the program in December 2001 as risk sharing partner, becoming sole supplier of virtually the entire fuselage centre section.

 ATR 72 MP
 
The ATR 72 MP maritime patrol aircraft is the latest special mission variant developed by Alenia Aeronautica. It is designed for patrolling, rescue, sea and coastline protection from security and environmental threats by integrating the Selex Galileo ATOS mission systems on the latest ATR 72-600 airframe.

ATR 72 600
  
Alenia Aeronautica is an equal shareholder in ATR, today the world leading regional turboprop programme with 980 aircraft sold, in association with EADS and designed and builds the entire fuselage and empennage. ATR, the green player of the regional market for the lowest CO2 and noise mission of its aircraft, is developing the "-600 series", the newest version of this successful family of aircraft; the first ATR 600 will be delivered early 2011.

ATR 42 MP Surveyor 
 
Alenia Aeronautica is the prime contractor for the ATR maritime patrol variant, ordered by Nigeria and Libya and already in service with the Italian Coast Guard and Guardia di Finanza. Alenia Aeronautica integrated the ATOS mission system on the ATR 42 airframe, certified the aircraft to civil standards and builds production machines.

Sukhoi Superjet 100  
 
The SSJ100 is the only 70-110 seat jet family designed and built by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft to the 21st century standards of comfort, technology and operational flexibility.
The new SuperJet International company, based in Italy and formed by Alenia Aeronautica (51%) and Sukhoi (49%), is in charge of aircraft customization delivery, marketing in the western countries, and worldwide technical support.
